WordPress Web Developer Apprentice

You’ll be working alongside our lead developer, creating websites from scratch using WordPress. You’ll be using software such as Elementor to customise the website to the fullest.

Your duties and responsibilities are: 

  • Designing and implementing new features and functionality
  • Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
  • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin

Future prospects

Completion of this apprenticeship could lead to a full-time role.

Individuals are able to undertake an apprenticeship at a higher level than a qualification they currently hold, including any previously completed apprenticeships. Individuals can also undertake an apprenticeship at the same level, or lower level than a qualification they already hold as long as the new apprenticeship allows for new skills to be acquired and the content of the training is materially different from any previous qualification or apprenticeship. For example, if you already have a Level 4 qualification you still may be able to complete an apprenticeship at any level providing you meet the eligibility criteria and are learning substantive new skills.

Requirements and prospects

Desired Skills

  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

Personal qualities

  • A good knowledge of all and current hardware/software implemented in the business
  • Knowledge of the changing world of web
  • Keen eye on detail

Desired qualifications

  • You must hold at least FA or higher or Diploma in Website Design.
  • Good in writing and reading English
